The Journey to Australia
With my pennies in my hand and holding the hands of the Almighty, I moved to Australia, where nothing was easy. No one there gave a damn what you learned, what your experience in India was, or what position you held. They just wanted to know if you had an ounce of Aussie education and any work experience within their country.
I applied for several positions, including joining the Royal Australian Navy, where I got selected, but the position was available only after one and a half years.
Being a man of arrogant confidence and inexplicable positivity, with a laptop and an internet connection in hand, I started a one-man consulting company called Optimus Interweave. The aim was to create business bridges between India, UAE, and Australian companies.
I sent out spam mail to several Australian companies, saying I was available to help. For a month, there was no answer, and I was sweating. Then, one day, a company importing a soilless media called cocopeat from Sri Lanka responded.
That was the finest hour of my life.
They asked me to come over immediately as they needed help increasing their vendors of cocopeat to meet demand. They wanted me to help them find cocopeat manufacturers in India for potential joint ventures.
I had to burn the midnight oil since the industry was alien to me. In 48 hours, I had shortlisted 23 companies as prospective JV partners. Three weeks later, I was in India. We didn’t find just one—we found three excellent partners.
Life never was, nor is, a Tempest nor a Midsummer Night’s Dream. You can live it As You Like It. I remembered the same words written in my autograph book by Mr. U. Velu, then Hostel Superintendent of Hoysala House and a Maths and NCC Instructor. Those words, so many years later, rang true in my life. I decided to follow those words in letter and spirit. I not just survived but lived. The rest is history.
Son, remember, if you have your health right, if you have your brains in place, if you know there is a hand, a power that loves you, you can bounce back in life. You will win.

The Journey Begins Here
One morning, I woke up to know my world had come crashing down for no real fault of mine. But life is a teacher, and Saturn was busy doling out some hard lessons. I had to find a way to support my family. I went into T-shirt printing, selling second-hand furniture, driving my private car as a taxi (a major offense in any part of the world), and supplying a vendor with the hardest-to-find items for the oil and gas industry.

I moved my Late Dad’s company in the field of Avionics into the international arena—the first Indian aerospace company to set its feet on international soil, and that was in the UAE. Things went great. Things went awfully wrong. Life threw a spanner in my works. I was devastated. I was broke.
An Audacity of Hope – My Life and Its Calling
It started when I first moved to Australia from Dubai in 2001. I had left the Navy prematurely, retiring in 1997. After leaving the Navy, I was still a young bloke at 35 wanting to, like Alexander the Great, covet the world. The road to hell is paved with good intent, and the intent was and always will be my content.
I remembered my late dad’s words...
When I first walked into this Australian company’s premises, I did not know what I was going to see or learn. But when I entered, I saw two greenhouses growing flowers and vegetable crops in sterile cocopeat.
I was mesmerized.
Plants were growing without soil—in the healthiest way I had ever seen. It was like a plant factory where every plant had the same height, the same physical characteristics, and similar quality fruits and flowers.
I canceled all ideas of being a general consultant. I plunged into learning soilless cultivation.
From childhood, I had this strange disease—wanting to delve into things that made me happy and whole. This time, I found my calling.
The Awakening to Soilless Farming
I sought out the best soilless farming gurus in Australia. They appeared. I gave my all—working on farms, doing the toughest jobs—for no remuneration, except food and accommodation.
I went deep into realms where angels fear to tread to gain knowledge and experience.
On October 23, 2008, with my newfound experience, I returned to India to pioneer the concept of soilless cultivation.
I envisioned bringing simplified, low-cost hydroponics to India.
A name appeared in my dream—The Pet Bharo Project. That was the birth of www.petbharoproject.co.in.

Hi, I’m Lt. Cdr. CV Prakash (veteran), IN — but you can call me CeeVee, the Alpha AgriVeer, founder of CV Hydro, a brand of Aggragannya Skills Pvt. Ltd.
I’m on a mission to create 500 AgriVeers before I ride off into the sunset. Why? Because the future of agriculture needs warriors. Not soldiers with weapons, but growers with the skills and courage to take farming to the next level.
